Hana Financial Group is expanding ESG activities linked to the local community ahead of its planned September relocation to Cheongna International City in Incheon.
Hana Financial said on May 28 it held a staff volunteer event on May 27 near Gangnam Market in Incheon’s Seo district, featuring “Happiness Box sharing and plogging.”
The activity is part of the group’s social contribution efforts in Incheon as it prepares for the completion of “Hana Dream Town” in Cheongna International City in September. It was organised in a relay format following an April volunteer project to create a mural at the Incheon Yeonhui Senior Culture Center.
About 30 Hana Financial employees took part in plogging, collecting litter.
They also delivered “Happiness Boxes” containing items needed to run business sites to small merchants at the traditional market.
One small merchant who received a Happiness Box said, “With high oil prices and an economic slowdown, it has been very difficult, so getting support of items that are actually needed was helpful.” The merchant added, “I hope sustained interest and support for the local community will continue.”
A Hana Financial employee who participated said, “It was meaningful to be able to directly help small merchants in the Incheon area.” The employee added, “It was time to practise the values of environmental protection and sharing together.”
