Microsoft adds direct purchase feature to Copilot

Microsoft has added a new shopping feature to Copilot, stepping more directly into the AI-based e-commerce market, The Verge reported on Jan. 8. When users search for a product, Copilot can recommend items and show a “Buy” button that enables in-app payment. Users can enter delivery and payment details and complete checkout without visiting another website. The feature will debut first in Copilot in the United States.

Snowflake to acquire observability startup Observe in $1 billion deal

Snowflake has agreed to acquire observability specialist Observe, TechCrunch reported on Jan. 8. Financial terms were not disclosed, but reports put the deal at about $1 billion, making it Snowflake's biggest acquisition to date. Observe provides a platform that monitors software system performance issues and was built on the Snowflake database. Snowflake plans to help customers centrally manage logs, metrics and trace data and detect potential errors earlier. The deal awaits regulatory approval.
