K Bank said on Monday that its chief executive, Choi Woo-hyung (최우형), has joined a relay campaign aimed at raising awareness of the risks of illegal gambling among teenagers and preventing harm.
Choi joined the campaign after being nominated by KakaoBank CEO Yoon Ho-young (윤호영). He shared a message on K Bank’s official social media channels calling for an end to youth illegal gambling and for a healthy environment for young people to grow. He nominated BNK Busan Bank CEO Kim Sung-joo (김성주) as the next participant.
K Bank is focusing on upgrading its Fraud Detection System (FDS) to pre-emptively block suspicious transactions linked to illegal gambling, alongside prevention education.
It also operates a page on the K Bank website for reporting accounts used for illegal gambling and accepts tips on an ongoing basis. For accounts reported, it takes follow-up steps through internal reviews and cooperation with relevant agencies, pursuing both preventive measures and post-incident responses.
The bank is also providing financial crime prevention education for teenagers, explaining the structure and risks of illegal gambling and the harmfulness of online gambling content. It said it supports the formation of sound economic values and responsible financial habits.
Choi said, "Youth illegal gambling is a serious social problem that can go beyond a simple lapse and be linked to financial crime." He added, "K Bank will fulfill its social responsibility so that teenagers can plan their futures in a safe financial environment through prevention systems and ongoing financial education."
