South Korea overhauls ICT R&D program manager system, expands AI roles

South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT said on Tuesday it has overhauled its private expert program manager system for ICT research and development to focus on artificial intelligence, as it seeks to become one of the world\'s top three AI powers. The ministry expanded the AI PM role into four areas and added new PM posts for regional AX and manufacturing AX. It also said it will appoint six new PMs with field expertise.

National AI strategy committee checks AX infrastructure in Daegu, Ulsan

South Korea\'s National Artificial Intelligence Strategy Committee said on Sunday it visited Daegu and Ulsan to check implementation of the AI Action Plan and review the status of regional AI transformation industries. The trip included inspections of AX projects in Daegu’s Suseong Alpha City and robotics testing facilities, and a visit to a SK and Amazon Web Services-backed data center construction site in Ulsan. Companies cited costs, resource constraints and regulatory burdens.
