LG CNS said on Thursday it signed a memorandum of understanding with Doosan to secure global competitiveness in new businesses including artificial intelligence transformation (AX), robot transformation (RX), data centres and cloud.
The signing ceremony, held a day earlier at the LG Sciencepark headquarters in Magok, Seoul, was attended by Hyun Shin-kyun (현신균), CEO of LG CNS, Yoo Seung-woo (유승우), CEO of Doosan, and other executives from the two companies.
The two companies plan to set up a business cooperation body within 1 month of the signing date and establish detailed operating plans.
Cooperation on AX will be pursued based on LG CNS' enterprise agentic AI platform, AgenticWorks. The companies plan to strengthen Doosan's agentic AI competitiveness and establish a business roadmap. They will also review collaboration in the RX field.
They will also seek synergies in the data centre and cloud business. Using LG CNS' cloud and data centre capabilities, they will upgrade Doosan's IT infrastructure and discuss adopting hydrogen fuel cells in LG CNS' data centre business.
The two companies will also pursue manufacturing AX that improves lifecycle efficiency of manufacturing facilities by applying digital twin technology. They also plan to cooperate on logistics business using eco-friendly mobility.
Doosan CEO Yoo said, "We will combine Doosan's technological capabilities built up in advanced materials and energy with LG CNS' AX capabilities to build next-generation business models that will lead the global market," adding, "Through this cooperation spanning from data centres to robots and AI, we will maximise the future value of both companies."
LG CNS CEO Hyun said, "We will create synergies by combining the AX and RX capabilities held by LG CNS with Doosan's technological capabilities," adding, "We will quickly produce cooperation results that lead to actual commercialisation, from AI-based predictive equipment at manufacturing sites to industrial innovation using robots."
