LG Uplus holds U+ TECH PLUS to expand engagement with future tech talent

LG Uplus held its 2026 U+ TECH PLUS event on Sept. 7 at its Magok headquarters in Seoul, the company said on Tuesday. The programme brings together the company’s technology experts and external participants to share research and development experience. About 500 people, including LG Uplus employees, master’s and doctoral students and professors, attended. The event featured 23 sessions on AI, software, networks, security and quality, along with panel talks and networking.

AI Strategy Committee shifts to project-based work, steps up AIDC, defence AX, AI security and standardisation

South Korea\'s National AI Strategy Committee set a goal for its second year of positioning the country as an irreplaceable core player in the global AI supply chain and a trusted partner. It plans to pursue tasks including national strategic industrialisation of AI data centres, industry and defence AX, and AI security and standardisation, while shifting its operations from subcommittee-led work to project-based execution. It also aims to focus on implementation and performance management as the cross-government AI budget rises.

R&D participation ban for research misconduct up to 20 years; penalty surcharge up to 30 times

South Korea will extend the maximum ban on participation in state-funded research and development for serious research misconduct to 20 years from 10 years. The cap on penalty surcharges for fraudulent use of government-funded R&D money will rise to 30 times the amount paid from five times. The Ministry of Science and ICT said the Cabinet on Sept. 8 approved promulgation of amendments to the National Research and Development Innovation Act passed by parliament on Aug. 20.
