South Korea to help Kazakhstan set up KAIST-style science and technology institute
South Korea and Kazakhstan will cooperate to establish a Kazakhstan Institute of Science and Technology benchmarked on the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT signed a science and technology talent-training framework with Kazakhstan\'s Ministry of Science and Higher Education on Sept. 15 on the sidelines of a summit. The two sides will work on building the institute’s foundations, strengthening faculty capabilities, student exchanges and curriculum development.

MSIT selects 5 more universities for science and engineering researcher living allowance programme
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT will expand the number of universities participating in its science and engineering researcher living allowance support programme to 48. The ministry selected five universities as new participants for the second half of 2026. The programme links government support to student stipends paid through universities’ industry-academic cooperation foundations and guarantees minimum monthly amounts for master’s and doctoral students. The ministry said it will provide consulting and monitoring and plans a two-stage rollout through 2030.
