Microsoft unveils AI weather forecasting technology that can predict up to 6 weeks ahead

Microsoft has unveiled a new AI-based technique to improve the accuracy of weather forecasts 2 to 6 weeks ahead by correcting recurring errors in existing models. The machine-learning method, called probabilistic bias correction, can run on CPUs without high-performance GPUs and was released as open-source software. Researchers reported performance gains across precipitation, temperature and pressure metrics when applied to ECMWF models, and the approach is being tested in Kenya.

LG Uplus takes \'Boostus\' to Tokyo for overseas creator programme

LG Uplus said on Sept. 21 it held a creator capability-building programme in Tokyo for 12 top participants from its Uplus Boostus creator community. The group visited Meta’s local office for content production workshops and sessions on global creator trends, and tried devices including Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses and Meta Quest. Participants also used LG Uplus roaming services and plan to produce content reflecting their experience.

Unity releases Unity 6.6 to improve development and build speeds

Unity has officially released Unity 6.6, updating development workflows, content management and graphics performance. It is the last non-long-term support version ahead of Unity 6.7 LTS due in the fourth quarter, and includes key components of a new coreCLR. The release adds Fast Enter Play Mode, a new Content Directory, expanded build analysis, 2D and graphics features, UI updates, broader platform support including WebGPU, and new security signing for .unitypackage files.
