[DigitalToday reporter Lee Ho-jung (이호정)] Kross on the 1st officially launched its Mainnet 2.0, “Breakpoint,” optimised for blockchain games and on-chain artificial intelligence (AI) agent operations.
The upgrade, carried out after about a 98 percent governance approval rate, made a full shift from a holdings-based structure to a participation-based network.
The new network began block production under a proof-of-staked authority (PoSA) structure based on 21 validators. It combines staking-based security with the speed and efficiency of a delegated authority structure, significantly boosting transaction processing performance. It also applies a deflationary model under which all base fees generated on the network are burned.
A reward system for ecosystem participants was also detailed. The first-year network reward pool consists of 300 million CROSS ($CROSS) and will be distributed to PoSA validators and delegated staking participants. Users can easily restake rewards they receive through a compounding function, and as of the 1st the staking annual percentage rate (APR) is about 145 percent.
At the same time, on-chain infrastructure to run AI agents was also significantly strengthened. Kross supports the ERC-8004 standard, an interface specification for AI agent registration, execution and interaction. This provides an environment in which AI agents operating in agent gaming can interoperate at the chain level.
It also integrated an HTTP 402-based x402 payment protocol, setting up a structure that enables agents to conduct economic activity on the chain without external payment systems. As a result, the utility of the Kross coin as an agent execution fee and as a means of x402 payment is expected to expand further.
Platform reorganisation across the ecosystem was also carried out in parallel. “Kross Play,” a game quest and rewards platform, was updated to version 2.0, and the Nexth official website was also fully revamped to provide intuitive guidance on the game chain, game hub and agent gaming.
