AI data centres prioritise memory, smartphone and PC costs could rise 15 percent

Expanding AI data centres are pushing memory makers to prioritise production of high-bandwidth memory, cutting supplies of general-purpose DRAM and NAND flash used in smartphones and PCs. TechRadar said the pressure could affect device prices, specifications and the broader mobile ecosystem through 2027. Analysts say smartphone component costs could rise by 15 percent or more, forcing some mid-range and budget models to reduce memory or overall specifications. Smaller Android vendors may face tougher choices.
