KT will join hands with Seoul National University Hospital to build a medical AI transformation (AX) platform.

KT said on Aug. 17 it signed a memorandum of understanding with Seoul National University Hospital to build a medical AX platform at KT's Gwanghwamun West building in Jongno district, Seoul.

Key officials including Bong-gyun Kim (김봉균), head of KT's Enterprise Division, and Nam-jong Baek (백남종), head of Seoul National University Hospital, attended the signing ceremony.

Based on KT's medical AX strategy and the hospital's clinical expertise and research capabilities, the two sides will jointly 추진 a standard model for the medical AX platform and apply it, carry out verification, advancement and commercialisation of government policy projects such as AI-native hospitals, support AI-based clinical decision-making and improve work efficiency, and expand into the healthcare market.

KT will take part in the full process of the medical AX platform that integrates AI, cloud and data, from planning to development, validation and commercialisation. Seoul National University Hospital will identify tasks to apply the platform and will be responsible for medical advisory work and effectiveness evaluations based on its expertise from clinical, treatment and research settings. KT also plans to support the hospital's ongoing project to build a "group integrated DX platform."

KT will use the partnership to strengthen its capabilities in the medical AX business and expand platform-based cooperation with medical institutions. It plans to identify and spread AI innovation models that can be applied in the public healthcare sector.

Nam-jong Baek, head of Seoul National University Hospital, said, "With this cooperation as an opportunity, we will set a standard for platform cooperation among medical institutions and identify and spread AI innovation models that can be applied across the entire public healthcare sector." He added, "We will take the lead so that all people can enjoy safer and higher-quality medical benefits."

Bong-gyun Kim, an executive vice president and head of KT's Enterprise Division, said, "Based on proven AX platform technology and know-how, KT supports AX across various industries." He added, "Starting with cooperation with Seoul National University Hospital, we will build AI-based innovation models in the public healthcare market as well."
