Tesla humanoid Optimus enters initial production, but key hurdles still block commercial use

Tesla has begun initial production of its humanoid robot Optimus, but it still faces hurdles before it can be deployed in real industrial settings. Elon Musk (일론 머스크) has set late 2027 as the timing for deliveries to external customers. Tesla said robots from the Fremont line meet mass-production quality standards, though reaching output of 20,000 units a week may take at least a year. Key challenges include hands, durability, safety and AI training data.

GM unveils fourth-generation EV platform, bets on LMR batteries and central computing

General Motors unveiled a next-generation EV strategy centred on lithium manganese-rich (LMR) batteries co-developed with LG Energy Solution and a fourth-generation EV platform. GM aims to raise energy density while using AI in vehicle structures and manufacturing to cut costs and shorten new model development from 5 years to 2 years. It also plans centralised computing to reduce modules and wiring and deploy AI-driven production systems to improve quality and efficiency.

Tesla Megapack supply sold out through 2027, production ramp speeds up

Most of Tesla\'s 2027 supply of its large energy storage system Megapack has been taken up, as demand rises, driven mainly by growth in AI data centres. The International Energy Agency expects global data centre power use to nearly double by 2030. Tesla has started production at its Texas Megapack plant and is strengthening its U.S. battery sourcing by shipping its first Megapack made only with LFP cells produced in Nevada.
