Samsung SDI has for the first time unveiled its battery product lineup for AI data centres. Samsung SDI said on Sept. 29 it took part in Data Centre World Asia (DCWA) 2026, which opened in Singapore, and set up four exhibition zones for UPS, BBU, SBB and cells.

The exhibition, which covers the broader ecosystem from data-centre design and construction to operation and management, drew about 600 companies from around the world this year. The UPS zone displayed an uninterruptible power supply that transfers power to servers without interruption during outages. The company said the product met all criteria in the Large-Scale Fire Test (LSFT), an indoor large-scale fire test hosted by global safety certification body UL Solutions. It said this is the first UPS solution in the world to meet all standards in the test, which verifies the risk of battery explosions and thermal propagation.

A product drawing attention at the exhibition is a cylindrical lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery. Samsung SDI is unveiling the battery for the first time. The company said it applied its proprietary structural technology to boost output and capacity and also enhanced safety. Lithium iron phosphate is a material that uses iron and phosphate, instead of nickel and cobalt, as the cathode material.

The BBU zone displayed a lineup of cylindrical batteries for emergency power supply. A flagship product is a 21700-format nickel-cobalt-manganese battery designed with a vent outlet at the bottom to improve safety. The SBB zone featured a prismatic LFP battery set to be installed in the integrated energy storage system (ESS) solution, SBB 2.0. The company said it improved performance and safety by applying LFP material to Samsung SDI’s proprietary prismatic form factor.

Samsung SDI will share updates on technology development with global customers and conduct marketing activities during the event. It also plans to take part in a technology conference and present its battery solutions.
