Korea public sector AI innovation awards: Western Power and Incheon Airport win top prizes
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT and the Ministry of Finance and Economy held the 2026 Public Institutions AI Innovation Performance Competition on Oct. 28 in Seoul. The event presented results from the public-sector programme of the nationwide AI competition. A total of 316 tasks from 105 institutions were submitted, and 30 projects were selected, including two top prizes. Korea Western Power won in a PoC category, while Incheon International Airport Corp won for an AI use case.

KT tests UAM on Incheon islands, verifies 5G and satellite network stability
KT tested AI-based urban air mobility (UAM) traffic management technology and the operability of 5G and satellite communications networks in island areas of Incheon, it said. KT said it completed a public UAM demonstration with Incheon city, the Aerospace Industry-Academia Convergence Institute and the K-UAM One Team. The test applied integrated operations capabilities to routes linking Yeongjongdo and Deokjeokdo and checked data-sharing systems among related agencies.

KT Cloud joins 50-MW Cheongna AI data centre project as DBO partner
KT Cloud said on Tuesday it will participate as a DBO (Design, Build, Operate) partner in a 50-megawatt AI data centre to be built in the Cheongna area of Incheon. The Cheongna AI data centre will span two basement levels and 11 floors above ground, with 50 MW of power-receiving capacity. Construction is scheduled to start in the fourth quarter of 2026 and finish in the first quarter of 2030.
