An AI chip boom is lifting incomes for semiconductor workers at Samsung Electronics and SK hynix, changing preferences in Korea’s matchmaking and marriage market. MIT Technology Review reported that large bonuses are affecting spending, housing and dating. A matchmaking firm raised job scores for employees at both companies after bonus announcements. Requests for semiconductor workers have increased, while concerns about inequality and calls for redistribution are also growing.

SK Telecom will build an organisational system in which people and AI work together by giving AI agents employee ID numbers as well as affiliations, duties and authority. The company said it will implement AX Innovation 2.0 to create a work environment that lets employees focus on AI transformation. It will define AI as a new working entity, manage agents with procedures similar to employees and set governance for data and security access.
