SKT holds 2026 Happy AI Challenge to narrow digital gap for disabled youth

SK Telecom held the 2026 Happy AI Challenge to help disabled youths compete in creativity and problem-solving using AI, it said on Wednesday. The two-day event began on Oct. 14 at SKT’s talent development centre in Icheon, Gyeonggi province, with 110 students and 44 supervising teachers. Students tackled tasks including AI ethics quizzes and robot routing. SKT said the contest renamed from its coding challenge now focuses on AI-based creative problem-solving.

SK Chairman Choi Tae-won checks Ulsan sites three months after AX overhaul declaration

SK Group Chairman Choi Tae-won (최태원) is inspecting the group\'s AI transition progress by visiting SK AI Data Center Ulsan and SK Innovation\'s UlsanCLX on Sept. 10, SK Group said. The visit comes three months after Choi declared an \"AX-centered management overhaul\" at the New Icheon Forum in June. Executives from key affiliates are accompanying him as he reviews implementation of the group\'s \"AI full-stack provider\" strategy from infrastructure to manufacturing AX.

SK hynix cuts daily water use by 170,000 tonnes, targets 600 million tonnes by 2030

SK hynix said it cut average daily water use by 170,000 tonnes at its domestic sites last year. The company presented its water management results at Korea International Water Week 2026, held in Daegu from Sept. 9 to 11. SK hynix said cumulative water savings reached 303.37 million tonnes by last year, exceeding an earlier target of 264 million tonnes. It raised this year’s target to 329 million tonnes and aims for 600 million tonnes by 2030.
