NC IDS changes name to NC AX to step up AI transition business

NC’s IT services unit NC IDS has changed its name to NC AX and will step up its artificial intelligence transition, or AX, business, it said on Sunday. The company has set applying and commercialising AI technology in industrial settings as a key goal since its launch in October 2024. NC AX plans to work with NC AI to lead AX transitions at NC and other major affiliates and generate business synergy.

South Korea begins full-scale development of agentic AI

South Korea will invest 18 billion won to develop core technologies for agentic AI that can set goals, make judgments and act without human intervention. The Ministry of Science and ICT and the Institute of Information & Communications Technology Planning & Evaluation launched the project on Wednesday in Seoul. The programme targets reducing human involvement to 10 percent or less and enabling autonomous planning and execution of complex tasks.

Foxconn replaces VMware with Arcfra HCI in shift to AI factory infrastructure

Taiwan contract electronics maker Foxconn has replaced VMware-based virtualisation environments at some operations sites with a platform from Singapore hyperconverged infrastructure company Arcfra, The Register reported on July 27. The move is seen as a response to expanding AI manufacturing environments and rising demand for GPU virtualisation. Arcfra said Foxconn adopted its Neutree AI platform to modernise dispersed factory infrastructure and improve AI model deployment, management and monitoring.
