Samsung Electronics and five other affiliates - Samsung C&T, Samsung SDS, Samsung SDI, Samsung Life Insurance and Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance - will invest a total of $1 billion in U.S. AI infrastructure company Helix Digital Infrastructure, they said on Monday.
Helix, launched in June 2026, provides integrated AI infrastructure including hyperscale data centre development and operations, power generation including baseload and flexible power, transmission and distribution infrastructure, and optical communications and network infrastructure. Former Amazon Web Services CEO Adam Selipsky (아담 셀립스키) leads the company.
Samsung affiliates participated as founding investors in Helix alongside investors, semiconductor companies and power companies leading the global AI infrastructure ecosystem, including KKR, the Kuwait Investment Authority (KIA), Nvidia and U.S. power company Vistra.
Samsung said it expects the investment to be an opportunity for Samsung affiliates to expand their parts competitiveness into influence at the system and infrastructure level. It plans to broaden its role in the AI ecosystem by moving beyond being a parts supplier and participating directly in building the infrastructure ecosystem.
Samsung affiliates, including Samsung Electronics, plan to use the investment to contribute to the smooth supply of global AI data centre infrastructure with Helix and its partners, and to continue pursuing mutual synergies.
