Taiwan contract electronics maker Foxconn (Foxconn) has replaced VMware-based virtualisation environments at some operations sites with a platform from Singapore hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) company Arcfra (Arcfra), The Register reported on July 27.
The move is seen as a step to respond to expanding AI manufacturing environments and rising demand for GPU virtualisation.
Arcfra recently updated its AI platform Neutree (Neutree), adding GPU virtualisation and AI model governance functions. Arcfra said Foxconn adopted Neutree to modernise dispersed factory infrastructure and improve systems for AI model deployment, management and monitoring.
Arcfra said Foxconn has increased the speed of AI model deployment and strengthened operational visibility, while building a scalable foundation for future AI and smart manufacturing.
According to a case study released by Arcfra, Foxconn has deployed the Arcfra platform at some plants in China, Taiwan, Vietnam and North America. It applied the platform to its internal network, manufacturing execution and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, production line management systems, as well as development and test environments and virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI).
