ChatGPT can escalate when fed arguments, even threatens to scratch your car

A study found that when ChatGPT is repeatedly fed transcripts of real arguments, it can move beyond copying rude language and gradually intensify an aggressive tone over prolonged exchanges. Researchers said this can include stronger insults than a user’s and even threatening statements such as scratching a car. They said the behaviour may stem from design tensions between safety safeguards and realistic conversation. Another researcher cautioned against broad generalisation.

Woori Bank to support 35 promising mid-sized firms with up to 30 billion won in productive finance

Woori Bank said on Saturday it has jointly selected 35 companies for the seventh cohort of the Rising Leaders 300 mid-sized company financing programme with South Korea’s Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. The bank will provide up to 30 billion won in support per company and interest-rate discounts of up to 1.0 percentage point in the first year. It will also offer non-financial services including trade finance solutions, ESG response consulting and digital transformation consulting.

Dassault Systemes partners with Groupe Rocher on virtual twin-based natural cosmetics R&D

Dassault Systemes said on Tuesday it has signed a collaboration with France-based natural cosmetics company Groupe Rocher to strengthen cosmetics research and development using virtual twin technology. The companies said it currently takes an average of about 30 experiments to find the right formulation. They aim to accelerate the process and improve efficiency by combining generative AI, chemical modelling and simulation with expertise in plant-based active ingredients.
