UK weighs extending BBC licence fee to streaming services including Netflix
The British government is considering extending the BBC licence fee to users of online streaming services such as Netflix, Disney+ and YouTube, expanding collections to households that do not watch traditional TV broadcasts. The proposal may be included in a policy plan for renewing the BBC’s Royal Charter to be announced before Christmas. The annual licence fee is 180 pounds. The BBC says its current funding model is outdated, though concerns remain over household costs and enforcement.

Sony Pictures has released “The Social Reckoning” in the United States, while a four-hour documentary on Musk also opened. More titles on Elizabeth Holmes and Altman are set for release, and Netflix is debuting an AI-themed documentary.

Europe diesel price surge adds 313.6 billion won a day in fuel costs
Europe is paying an average of 203 million euros a day in additional fuel costs as diesel prices jump due to a Middle East conflict and disruptions to refined fuel supplies, an analysis said. Additional fuel costs for road transport including gasoline total 270 million euros a day, it said. The rise could add to inflation pressure by lifting costs for drivers and freight operators. Refined product price gains have also widened oil companies’ profits, the report estimated.
