Snowflake to hold Snowflake World Tour Seoul on Aug 27 to share AI strategy

Snowflake will hold its annual Snowflake World Tour Seoul conference on Aug. 27 at the COEX Conference Center in Samseong-dong, Seoul. The event is part of a global data conference held in 23 cities and marks its fifth edition in South Korea. Snowflake will focus on how to connect AI to business outcomes using trusted data and platforms, with keynote speeches, customer case studies, an awards ceremony and afternoon sessions across four tracks.

OpenAI\'s Astra solves 10 math problems unsolved for more than a decade

OpenAI’s unreleased internal model Astra has produced new results on 10 problems in mathematics and theoretical computer science that had remained unsolved for at least a decade, and released machine-verifiable proofs. OpenAI posted a 249-page manuscript, model reasoning traces and Lean 4 proof certificates on GitHub under the Apache 2.0 licence. Some researchers called the results significant, but the work has not been peer reviewed and mathematicians still need to confirm the claims’ meaning and alignment with the original open problems.

Low-earth-orbit satellite communications aim to extend network coverage to areas beyond terrestrial infrastructure, including mountains, islands, open seas and the sky. Unlike geostationary satellites at about 36,000 km altitude, low-earth-orbit satellites operate at about 200 to 2,000 km, reducing latency but requiring large constellations. South Korea has approved cross-border supply deals involving Starlink and Eutelsat OneWeb. The government targets an independent network by 2035 and plans a 300 billion won R&D programme by 2030.
