Samsung Electronics said on Sept. 17 it will begin rolling out its One UI 9 update in South Korea from Sept. 16 for the Galaxy S26 series and expand it sequentially to global markets and supported devices.

One UI 9, introduced alongside 3 new Galaxy Z series models unveiled in July, is designed to improve usability across various form factors and strengthen Galaxy AI features. It also enhances personalisation features and security performance.

The newly added My FanCam automatically tracks a person selected by the user in a video and places the subject at the centre of the screen. It allows users to create videos focused on a specific person without separate editing, even for footage with lots of movement such as performances or games.

Samsung also introduced a Warranty and Care menu. Users can check warranty periods and estimated repair costs for mobile devices linked to their account, and access self-diagnosis, Samsung Care Plus management and service centre reservations in one place.

Existing personalisation features have also been enhanced. Now Brief adds a Make My Card feature that lets users create and edit cards. Users can arrange frequently checked information such as health, weather and videos in their preferred format to receive customised briefings. Now Nudge analyses Galaxy usage and suggests needed functions. It improves convenience by, for example, calling up reservation information when arranging plans by message or saving a location shared during a conversation.

Creative Studio suggests image-generation ideas based on key schedules such as birthdays. If a friend’s birthday is approaching, it recommends making a birthday card. Interpreter also applies a Thread View that lets users check the flow of previous conversations. It also improves translation speed in conversation mode so users can hear translated audio faster when using Galaxy Buds.

Scan improves recognition of curved book pages or paper with folded corners and strengthens a function that removes fingers holding a document. Voice Recording summarises recordings in a structured format such as titles and tables.

Security features have also been expanded. Security Brief, added to Now Brief, regularly summarises security and privacy issues such as malicious apps, apps with unknown sources and unnecessary permission use, and links users directly to needed actions. An on-device AI-based Privacy Protection Alert notifies users of situations that could infringe privacy, such as attempts to access unnecessary permissions. The feature is supported on some products.

Support countries for a Voice Phishing Suspected Call Alert that detects voice phishing and scam calls will be expanded to Japan, Canada and India, among others. It analyses whether the other party’s voice has been altered by AI to respond to new forms of voice phishing that use AI-generated voices.
