Begins, a dating tendency-matching app operated by career platform Saramin, has overhauled its service around AI functions, it said on Monday.

The revamp focuses on offering matching based on values and lifestyle, moving away from the existing appearance-focused approach.

The AI Profile Highlight feature analyses data on user interests and values to provide a summary of key tendencies. Users can first check a potential match's lifestyle and then decide whether to match. A newly introduced Custom Recommendation feature supports direct search by setting detailed conditions such as age, body type and preferences, as well as the BLOOM dating tendency index.

The revamp also introduced an AI photo diagnosis feature. The function uses AI to analyse facial expressions, composition and how effectively an image conveys an impression, and provides customised guidance for improvement. Users can choose a feedback style, either an Angel Mode focused on positive expressions or a Devil Mode that offers blunt suggestions for improvement, depending on their preference.

A Begins official said, "What dating app users find most difficult is the process of finding someone who fits them well among countless profiles." The official added, "Begins aims to provide a matching experience that reflects user tendencies and lifestyle more deeply from the perspective that meetings also need standards."
