The second week of April brings fickle weather, with cherry blossoms in full bloom in warm conditions before rain arrives with a late cold snap. In the music industry, sibling duo AKMU is moving listeners with its fourth full-length album "Flowering", while news related to project group WANNA ONE is stirring fans.
In broadcasting, attention focused on somewhat disappointing casting for a new drama and a planned variety show moving into reorganisation. Korean-style action content such as "Hounds 2" and "Humint" also hit the mark with global fans.

Sibling duo AKMU's new song is drawing a strong response. AKMU returned on April 7 by releasing its fourth full-length album "Flowering" at 6 p.m. through major music sites.
The first full-length album since 2019 includes title track "Joy, Sorrow, a Beautiful Heart" and the pre-released track "Paradise of Rumours", along with "Spring Colour", "Let the Bugs Out", "Sunlight Bless You", "Tent", "Young Couple", "The Right Person", "Elegant Breakfast", "Festival of Refugees" and "Stain", for a total of 11 songs.
The title track is a calm song that leaves a deep lingering impression, as reflected in lyrics that begin, "After joy comes sorrow / It is a beautiful heart" and "Do not drive it out, embrace it / It becomes a very pretty stone." The music video released alongside it drew attention by linking together various listeners' stories.
Actor Ha Ji-soo (하지수) revealed a special connection with AKMU through a music video. In this, the friendship between Lee Su-hyun (이수현) and Ha also drew attention in a subtle way.
Ha posted multiple photos on Instagram with the words, "a happy fairy, an angry fairy, a sleepy fairy, a shining fairy."
The photos were taken on the set of the music video for AKMU's pre-released track "Paradise of Rumours" from its fourth full-length album. Ha drew attention with a goddess-like look, pointed fairy ears and a white flower accessory.
In the comments, Lee wrote, "The loveliest pink fairy in the world," showing affection. Ha responded with a heart emoji, creating a warm mood.
The post drew attention because Ha is the subject of dating rumours involving Lee Chan-hyuk. The rumours were first reported in January last year, but both agencies said at the time, "It is impossible to confirm an artist's private life," and did not offer a specific position.

Project group WANNA ONE is launching a membership.
Mnet Plus announced the launch of "Wanna One Go Pass" through its official social media accounts.
"Wanna One Go Pass" is a content pass for Wannables, the official fandom, to access WANNA ONE's reality programme "WANNA ONE GO: Back to Base," set to be released on April 28.
Pass buyers can receive unreleased exclusive content not available in the main programme, invitations to members' "ChitChat" and opportunities to take part in dedicated offline events with members. They can also access a digital certificate and discount purchase opportunities for special merchandise.
The pass costs 33,000 won, and the purchase period and benefits run until July 3. Community participation and access to exclusive content and ChitChat will still be possible after that.

In this, WANNA ONE member Kim Jae-hwan drew attention with his unchanged comic charm.
On April 6, Kim greeted Wannables on a messaging platform that allows communication with fans, saying, "Hi! Wannable."
The platform is a "ChitChat" where WANNA ONE members can talk with Wannables, and it opened on April 7. Kim mistakenly sent a message to fans before the opening date.
Six minutes after his first greeting, Kim posted again, saying, "It opens tomorrow.. See you tomorrow..," prompting fans to burst into laughter.
Rising youth actors Hwang In-youp (황인엽) and Cho Yi-hyun (조이현) are expected to star together in a drama based on a popular webtoon.
Broadcast industry officials said on April 2 that in the new drama "A Guide to Proper Dating", Hwang has been offered the male lead role of Na Yu-yeon and is positively reviewing the offer, while Cho will appear as the female lead Jung Ba-reum.
"A Guide to Proper Dating" is based on the webtoon of the same name by author Namsu. It is a campus romance about Jung Ba-reum, a model student who lives a planned life but is inexperienced in dating, as she takes on love and grows. The original work is a popular IP that drew love beyond South Korea and received ongoing requests for adaptation into a drama.
After news of the pairing, online users showed mixed reactions, including "the casting is disappointing" and "it will be hard to immerse," as well as "an exciting combination."

tvN's "Community War Anonymous Debate", a community discussion variety show it had announced plans to launch, has entered a reorganisation process.
tvN recently said on its official website, "'Community War' will undergo an overall reorganisation process," adding, "We will provide guidance again once specific directions are set." Previously posted notices recruiting participants and related social media posts have been deleted. The broadcaster shifted direction just days after announcing the programme's launch.
"Community War" was planned as a programme in which online community users participate in debates anonymously while wearing masks. It featured a distinctive setup in which figures representing each community appear to speak for opinions and argue through real-time chat.
But controversy continued immediately after the launch plan was revealed. Some said it was fresh to expand community culture into broadcasting, while concerns were raised that an anonymous debate structure could amplify and reproduce extreme expressions or hate speech. Critics also said pitting users from communities with different leanings against each other could fuel conflict.
■ This week's major K-snapp news?
An episode in which rapper DinDin discussed a contact information leak drew strong interest on global K-snapp.
DinDin appeared on rapper Swings' YouTube channel and brought up an accident that occurred during a past video production process. "I received the rough edited video, but I couldn't check it carefully because of a busy schedule," DinDin said, explaining the situation at the time. The issue in the rough cut was a messaging scene. He thought the number would be obscured, but it was actually exposed and uploaded to YouTube as is.
Right after the video was released, DinDin said, "Suddenly, messages saying 'I'm a fan' poured in from strangers," adding, "I also got calls from acquaintances saying my number seemed to have been leaked." After grasping the situation, he immediately contacted the production team and the video was deleted in less than about 10 minutes, but calls and messages continued. "Blocking wasn't enough to handle it, so I eventually changed my number," he added.
Despite the unexpected incident, DinDin laughed it off with a relatively calm attitude. It happened because of the production team's mistake, but rather than expressing excessive complaints, he turned it into an anecdote and showed his variety sense.

As the cold snap eases and spring arrives, high-teen youth stories and brisk action are drawing attention. Korean content is also ranking high on OTT charts, once again proving the image of a "content powerhouse."
FlixPatrol, an OTT content ranking site, said on April 7 that as of the previous day, "XO, Kitty" season 3, released on April 2, ranked No. 1. The title is a spinoff of Netflix's hit series "To All the Boys I've Loved Before" and follows Kitty, played by Anna Cathcart, as she attends an international school in Seoul and navigates love and friendship. The series has continued through season 3 and has been well received, with Korean actors including Choi Min-young, Kim Ji-a and Lee Sang-heon also appearing.
"Hounds" season 2 ranked No. 2. The series, released on April 3, follows Geon-woo, played by Woo Do-hwan, and Woo-jin, played by Lee Sang-yi, after they bring down a brutal illegal loan shark organisation and face a global illegal boxing league for another cathartic blow.
In the film category, "Humint", which was released in cinemas on Feb. 11, ranked No. 1. "Humint" follows four people who head to Vladivostok while tracking clues to an incident that occurred in the border area between North Korea and Russia. The film drew attention with a cast including Jo In-sung, Park Jung-min, Park Hae-joon and Shin Se-kyung.
In the second week of April, with a late cold snap, groups with varied charms are knocking on listeners' doors.
KickFlip, which drew attention for its storm of flirting, returns with a first-love story, while KISS OF LIFE evokes nostalgia with a 2000s pop genre. Sibling duo AKMU drew attention by singing of youth in full bloom.
A boy group produced by Kim Jae-joong, Kibbit Up, will officially debut in the music industry, and global group KATSEYE is set to release a lively new song.
