Kakao said on Sunday it opened a “cherry blossom map” service on its location-based lifestyle platform KakaoMap.
The cherry blossom map is a service that lets users check real-time blooming information for about 100 cherry blossom attractions nationwide, including Seoul Forest and the Jinhae Gunhangje Festival. It displays nationwide bloom status on the map in three stages: before blooming, start of blooming and full bloom.
Users can tap a cherry blossom pin on the map to quickly check location information and the estimated blooming period. It provides detailed schedules such as Seoul Forest (April 3 to 10) and the Jinhae Gunhangje Festival (March 27 to April 3) to help users plan outings. On the location detail page, an animation of falling petals plays.
The service is available after updating the KakaoMap app to version 6.17.0 by searching for “cherry blossom map” in the search bar or tapping a button at the bottom. Users can explore cherry blossom attractions and festival sites nationwide on the map.
Boram Kim (김보람), domain leader at KakaoMap, said, “We prepared the cherry blossom map so users can visit attractions.” She added, “In spring, cherry blossoms, and in autumn, foliage attractions - we will set up various place categories to help users explore locations.”
