Samsung Electronics begins mass production of PM1763 high-speed SSD for AI servers
Samsung Electronics has begun mass production of its PCIe 6.0 enterprise SSD, the PM1763, for AI server infrastructure. The company said the drive uses ninth-generation V-NAND and a 4-nanometre controller to improve performance and power efficiency. It will be offered in 4TB, 8TB and 16TB versions, with the 16TB model delivering sequential read and write speeds of up to 28,400 MB per second and 21,900 MB per second.

240 trillion won to flow into Chungcheong as Samsung and SK roll out investment plans
Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix on Wednesday announced large investment plans for South Korea’s Chungcheong region, totalling 240 trillion won. Samsung said it will invest about 140 trillion won in areas including advanced displays, high-bandwidth memory fabs, next-generation batteries and AI server package substrates, aiming to create 250,000 jobs. SK Hynix said it will invest 100 trillion won in Cheongju, citing a need to expand NAND supply and strengthen advanced packaging.

Samsung Electro-Mechanics signs 450 billion won MLCC deal with global big tech
Samsung Electro-Mechanics has signed a 450 billion won supply contract with a global big tech company to provide multilayer ceramic capacitors for AI servers. The one-year contract runs from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 2027. The company said MLCC demand is rising in AI servers as power fluctuations can hurt performance and usage per server is far higher than in general servers. It said it holds over 40 percent in AI-server MLCCs.
