KAIST launches \'AI campus\' push to embed AI in classes, labs and administration

KAIST\'s new president Bae Chung-sik (배충식) is moving to build an \"AI campus\" linking education, research, administration and infrastructure through a single system. The plan includes establishing AI use frameworks for all courses, introducing entrepreneurship and startup education from freshmen year, and expanding company-linked \"AI autonomous labs\". KAIST also plans an AI-based one-stop administrative system, measures to lower barriers across departments, sustainability initiatives on campus, and expanded internationalisation.

Kakao Games secures funds for shareholder returns, executives buy 500 million won of treasury shares

Kakao Games said on Aug. 24 that its co-CEOs Kim Tae-hwan and Lee Si-woo and other executives bought a total of 500 million won worth of its own shares. The company approved plans covering the holding and disposal of treasury shares, as well as deficit coverage and transferring a capital reserve to retained earnings. It will cut a 1.54 trillion won capital reserve and use it for future shareholder return policies. It also plans to introduce RSUs using 350,000 treasury shares.

Kakao wraps up second \'AI Rookie Camp\' for teenagers

Kakao has increased the share of hands-on projects in its AI talent development programme for teenagers outside the Seoul metropolitan area. Kakao said it held a graduation ceremony for the second \"AI Rookie Camp\" class on Aug. 14 at its Kakao AI Campus in Yongin, Gyeonggi province. The camp included 100 students from second-year middle school to first-year high school from regions including Gangwon, Gyeongsang, Jeolla, Jeju and Chungcheong.
