AI and data company Ncorea said on Sept. 16 that a team including trainees from Playdata, an IT education institute it operates, won the top prize at the 2026 K-Digital Training (KDT) hackathon.

The company said the "Bammaseil" team, which included trainees from the 34th cohort of the Family AI Camp under the SK Networks Family AI Camp, won the top prize after developing an AI vision assistance service to help people with night blindness and low vision walk safely at night.

The team used on-device AI technology so a smartphone can identify the surrounding environment and risk factors.

Earlier, graduates from the 25th cohort of the Family AI Camp took first place in the Olive Young track at the Cofathon AI Native hackathon jointly hosted by CJ Olive Young and Krafton. Ncorea said the graduates applied AI to an "automation of wellness promotion" assignment.

Ncorea also operates the "Ncorea AI Campus". It plans to open the third "AI-ready data engineering camp" and the fourth "multi-agent AI orchestration camp" in October.

Kwon-sik Kim (김권식), head of Playdata Center, said the continued achievements by trainees and graduates in various external contests show Playdata's competitiveness in AI education and the quality of its training. He said the company will expand the education experience it has accumulated beyond the SK Networks Family AI Camp to various AI education programmes, including the Ncorea AI Campus, and will continue to train job-ready AI talent needed in industrial settings.
