China considers tighter export controls on homegrown AI and semiconductor technology

China is weighing measures to manage homegrown AI models and semiconductors as strategic national assets, including possible export controls, a report said. Draft rules have not been disclosed. The move comes as the United States has tightened curbs on chip and chipmaking technology exports to China since October 2022. Research groups said China is shifting from acquiring foreign technology to managing exports of its own capabilities, while enforcement could be complicated by grey-market channels.

It said it will provide specialised services to address new security challenges that emerge as companies adopt AI agents. Clocus said Straiker offers a platform that identifies AI agents and related assets, validates potential vulnerabilities in advance, and detects and blocks threats during operations.

DigiCert says DigiCert ONE can address security challenges in the AI era

DigiCert on Tuesday presented an integrated security strategy centered on its intelligent trust platform, DigiCert ONE. The company said widely used RSA and ECC public key algorithms could see security weaken if large-scale quantum computers are commercialised, prompting moves toward post-quantum cryptography standards. It said PQC adoption requires broad system support and may take months to years. DigiCert ONE offers Quantum Central to identify cryptographic assets and support structured migration.
