IBM said on Thursday it has launched a self-hosted deployment version of its agentic software development platform IBM Bob, enabling companies to use it in on-premise, private cloud, sovereign cloud and environments separated from external networks.
IBM Bob supports applying AI across software development and modernisation beyond simple code generation.
The company said securing control over where AI runs, the data it can access and how AI systems are governed is important for companies in regulated industries seeking to adopt AI.
The self-hosted deployment option supports the use of AI on customer-managed infrastructure. It is suited to organisations that need control over data residency and security policies, AI governance and software development workflows.
Neel Sundaresan (닐 순다레산), general manager for IBM's AI and automation business, said, "The future of enterprise AI depends on security, governance and sovereignty." He said organisations handling sensitive code and regulated data need AI that operates in an environment companies can directly control. He said the self-hosted deployment option helps companies introduce agentic AI directly into such environments and use AI benefits while maintaining security, regulatory compliance and operational control.
