AI scientists gather for AI4Sci Korea 2026 conference

South Korea will host its first international academic conference in the AI for Science field, which combines science and technology with AI. The Ministry of Science and ICT said it will hold the AI4Sci Korea 2026 conference in Seoul through Oct. 1. About 600 researchers and industry experts from 19 countries will participate and present about 220 papers. The program focuses on autonomous research agents and AI-based scientific discovery.

The Ministry of Science and ICT will host AI4Sci Korea 2026 in Seoul from Sept. 27 to Oct. 1. About 600 participants from 19 countries will present about 220 papers. The programme includes 15 session tracks, keynote speeches and policy forums, along with special sessions and an AI hackathon.

South Korea\'s 2027 government R&D budget nears 40 trillion won, new projects hit record maximum

South Korea has drafted a 2027 government research and development budget of 39.5 trillion won, up 11.2 percent from this year. It plans to increase investment in strategic technologies such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, quantum and space aviation, and to allocate a record 3.3 trillion won to new projects. Major R&D funds allocated and coordinated by the science ministry total 33.8 trillion won, up 11.5 percent.
