K Bank links with Naver mobile ID in event offering up to 10,000 won
K Bank said on Wednesday it has introduced a mobile ID link-up service in cooperation with Naver and will run an event for new customers. To mark the launch, K Bank will offer up to 10,000 won in cash benefits through the end of December. Customers who sign up for the first time via a dedicated page will receive 7,000 won immediately, with an additional 3,000 won if they use Naver’s mobile ID for identity verification when opening a daily account.

Mobile phone activation facial authentication rollout delayed, alternative options under review
South Korea has delayed the full rollout of a policy requiring facial authentication when activating mobile phones, reflecting concerns over personal data leaks and other issues. The Ministry of Science and ICT said on March 20 it will extend the pilot period for verifying identity using facial recognition to June 30. The procedure was introduced in December as part of anti-voice phishing measures, but drew recommendations from the National Human Rights Commission and requests for alternatives.

Science ministry, Madagascar and World Bank step up K-blockchain overseas push
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT said on Feb. 10 it held a meeting at the Korea Internet and Security Agency in Seoul with a delegation from Madagascar\'s Ministry of Digital Development, Transformation, Posts and Telecommunications and World Bank officials. The sides discussed cooperation on blockchain-based digital transformation and reviewed Korean applications including DID-based mobile IDs and digital-currency voucher management platforms. They also discussed linking Korean blockchain and AI technology to World Bank-backed projects in Madagascar to expand overseas business opportunities.
