[DigitalToday reporter Ji-young Lee] Woori Bank will offer prizes worth up to 100,000 won to customers who issue identification documents through its mobile banking app. It supports seven types of mobile IDs, including resident registration cards and driver’s licences. Customers who newly sign up for Woori WON Banking this month will also get additional chances to enter the draw.
Woori Bank said on Oct. 23 it will run the prize promotion from Oct. 21 to Nov. 20 to increase use of its mobile ID service introduced on Oct. 14.
During the promotion period, customers who issue a mobile ID through Woori WON Banking will be included in the draw. Winning customers will receive up to 100,000 won in “Honey Money.”
The service can issue seven types of IDs: resident registration card, driver’s licence, national merit registration card, alien registration card, permanent resident card, domestic residence report card and disability registration card.
The issuance process is available in the “Woori WON Wallet” within Woori WON Banking. Mobile IDs have the same legal effect as physical ID cards.
Woori Bank will provide an additional chance to participate in the prize draw if customers who joined Woori WON Banking after the 1st also issue a mobile ID during the event period.
“Mobile IDs apply decentralized identity (DID) technology, allowing customers to verify their identity safely and conveniently,” said Kim Sung-jun (김성준), head of Woori Bank’s Authentication Business Platform Department. “We will continue to enhance customer convenience while steadily strengthening our security system,” he said.
