MSIT launches Chungcheong information security cluster to grow regional security industry

South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Internet & Security Agency on July 27 held an opening ceremony in Sejong for the Chungcheong Information Security Cluster. The cluster is designed to help spread information security firms, talent and infrastructure beyond the Seoul area and support co-growth with regional strategic industries. It provides office space, a security testbed and a cyber training facility, and will be linked to local industries such as smart cities, smart defense, converged bio and mobility.

South Korea science ministry breaks ground on Korea New Light Accelerator, aims for 2029 completion

South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Basic Science Institute on July 27 held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Korea New Light Accelerator in Ochang, Cheongju. The fourth-generation circular synchrotron will use radiation generated by accelerating electrons close to the speed of light to analyse materials at the atomic level. The ministry plans to invest 1.16 trillion won, aiming to complete the project by end-2029, with KBSI overseeing construction.

NHN KCP joins Project Hangang phase 2 with Shinhan Bank

NHN KCP will join Shinhan Bank in the second phase of the Bank of Korea\'s central bank digital currency pilot, Project Hangang. The companies plan to expand deposit token payment testing to convenience stores, hypermarkets and online malls using NHN KCP\'s online and offline merchant network. Merchants can add deposit token payments through existing NHN KCP infrastructure without replacing terminals or overhauling systems, as Shinhan Bank rolls out services and collects usage data.
