Lee Jong-kwan (이종관), a senior expert member at Shin & Kim, called for a reorientation of media policy toward sustainability and regionality to secure cable TV’s future. He cited declining revenues and profits for system operators since 2013 alongside rising content fees.

Plattsburgh considers 12-month pause on crypto mining and AI data centres to curb high-power facilities
Plattsburgh in New York state is considering reintroducing temporary restrictions on AI data centres and cryptocurrency mining facilities. The city held a public hearing on a proposal to halt land-use approvals for 12 months for high-power computing operations. If passed, facilities requiring 300 kW or more would face a pause in new approvals. Mayor Wendell Hughes has not yet approved the measure, and the city council plans another meeting on Sept. 17.
