SentBe hired Hi-seong Lee (이희성), formerly of Ant International, as head of domestic sales to strengthen its corporate cross-border payments business.
SentBe said on Tuesday it hired Lee, who led Alipay's business development in South Korea, to expand B2B sales of its corporate overseas remittance and payment solution, SentBiz.
Lee began his career at Naver in 2007 and later worked at Meritz Securities and Deutsche Securities, handling corporate investment and cross-border mergers and acquisitions advisory work. In 2017, he joined Ant International as an early member of its South Korea business and oversaw Alipay's inbound business in the country for about 9 years.
The company said that during his time at Ant International, he worked with local governments and government agencies in cities including Busan and Jeju to expand Alipay payment infrastructure to traditional markets, tourism districts, and taxis and city buses. He received a 2024 ministerial commendation from the Ministry of SMEs and Startups in recognition of contributions to related public-private partnership projects.
At SentBe, Lee will oversee domestic sales and be responsible for building partnerships with large companies, finding new business opportunities by industry and expanding strategic alliances.
SentBe plans to expand its corporate customer base with a focus on industries with strong demand for overseas payments and collections, including K-beauty, auto exports, retail and medical tourism.
SentBe Chief Executive Seong-wook Choi (최성욱) said, "Together with Managing Director Hi-seong Lee, who has led the process of embedding payment services at actual industrial sites, we will reduce corporate customers' burden of cross-border payments and expand the cross-border payments business."
