Baemin has joined a consultative body for shared growth aimed at revitalising the regional economy in the Jeonnam-Gwangju area. Baemin operator Woowa Brothers said on Tuesday it would participate in the Jeonnam-Gwangju Regional Co-Growth Council. The council also includes the Korea Commission for Corporate Partnership, Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City, Korea Electric Power Corp, Korea District Heating Corp, KEPCO KDN, Kia and CJ CheilJedang. The eight organisations aim to pool the capabilities of local governments, public institutions and companies to address regional issues.
The participating organisations will jointly 추진 a co-growth ecosystem for key regional industries, set tasks to revitalise the local economy and create social value, and push shared-growth projects for small and medium-sized firms and small merchants. Baemin will link up with the council's priority task, the Jeonnam-Gwangju local food sales channel expansion project. The company said it would seek ways to broaden sales opportunities for competitive local food companies and small merchants.
Oh Yun-hwa, chair of the Korea Commission for Corporate Partnership, said the Jeonnam-Gwangju Regional Co-Growth Council is a communication channel that connects regional issues with corporate capabilities to create practical cooperation projects. Oh said the commission would work closely to ensure the agreement leads to growth for local companies and revitalisation of the regional economy.
Kim Joong-hyun (김중현), head of sustainable management at Woowa Brothers, said the council would serve as an opportunity to consistently find tasks that provide solid support to small merchants and commercial districts in the Jeonnam-Gwangju area. Kim stressed Baemin would leverage its strengths to produce tangible results.
