Chips&Media Q3 operating profit 1.66 billion won, up 8.7 percent on year

Chips&Media said on Oct. 27 it posted consolidated third-quarter revenue of 7.16 billion won and operating profit of 1.66 billion won. Revenue rose 8.2 percent and operating profit gained 8.7 percent from a year earlier. Royalty revenue fell as chip output by customers declined due to memory supply and demand conditions, but the company said expanded new licences in AI and mobility lifted licence revenue. It posted a net loss of 600 million won.

Unitree shares surge over 60% since mid-October after JPMorgan upgrade

Shares of China’s Unitree Robotics have risen more than 60% since Oct. 15, lifting its market value to 271.8 billion yuan. The rally reflects investor expectations that AI models used in chatbots will accelerate development of “physical AI” that can control robots in real-world tasks. The move followed comments by founder Wang Xingxing and a JPMorgan upgrade to overweight with a 995-yuan target price.

Tesla has begun initial production of its humanoid robot Optimus, but it still faces hurdles before it can be deployed in real industrial settings. Elon Musk (일론 머스크) has set late 2027 as the timing for deliveries to external customers. Tesla said robots from the Fremont line meet mass-production quality standards, though reaching output of 20,000 units a week may take at least a year. Key challenges include hands, durability, safety and AI training data.
