Domestic NPU products cleared for public procurement as Rebellion, FuriosaAI named
Products from South Korean AI semiconductor companies including Rebellion, FuriosaAI and DeepX were designated as outstanding R&D innovative products, giving them an opportunity to enter the public procurement market. The Ministry of Science and ICT said it awarded certificates and plaques to 13 companies selected from 2025 through the first half of this year. Designated items can be purchased through private contracts for three years, extendable up to six years, and are included in the 83.9 billion won pilot purchase programme.

Kakao to hold 10,000-strong running festival
Kakao will hold a 10,000-person running festival, Kakao Friends Run 2026, on Oct. 10 around Tancheon in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province. The event will offer 5 km and 10 km courses and run as a non-competitive fun run. Applications will be accepted Aug. 10-17 via the official website and a KakaoTalk Gift promotion page, with participants chosen by lottery and the final list announced Aug. 20.

Smilegate Futurelab to run Future Laboratory programme for Seongnam youth
Smilegate Futurelab said on Monday it will run a digital maker education programme, \"Future Laboratory with Smilegate,\" in partnership with the Gyeonggi-do Seongnam Office of Education. The programme combines Futurelab’s digital creative education content with local education resources. It will be offered in two tracks: \"Futurebee Makerton\" for students from second-year middle school to first-year high school, and \"Futurebee Challenge\" for fifth- and sixth-grade elementary students through mid-September.
