Korea AI Cloud Industry Association launches CSP subcommittee to strengthen domestic CSP cooperation

The Korea AI Cloud Industry Association said on May 20 it has officially launched a Cloud Service Provider subcommittee to strengthen cooperation among domestic CSPs and jointly discuss issues facing the AI and cloud industry. The group also held its first subcommittee meeting on May 18, attended by six companies: KT Cloud, Naver Cloud, Kakao Enterprise, Gabia, NHN Cloud and Samsung SDS. Participants discussed policy and industry issues including AI infrastructure investment, GPU supply and rising data centre energy costs.

Samsung SDS consortium selected as operator for national AI computing centre project

South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT on May 11 finalised the Samsung SDS consortium as the private participant in a national AI computing centre construction project. The consortium includes Samsung SDS, Naver Cloud, Samsung C&T, Kakao, Samsung Electronics, Clush, KT, South Jeolla Province and Seonamhaean Enterprise City Development. The ministry signed agreements to confirm the operator and plan and to set up a special purpose company. Initial funding totals 400 billion won, with a longer-term buildout of 2.5 trillion won.

Samsung SDS wins Korea Securities Depository token securities platform contract

Samsung SDS said on Tuesday it has won a Korea Securities Depository project to build and operate a token securities platform. The depository plans to link its existing electronic securities account system with blockchain-based distributed ledger data to strengthen token securities issuance and rights management and prepare for market expansion. Samsung SDS said it will convert a verification-focused testbed into a formal system for transaction processing and stable operations by February 2027.
