Samsung said on Monday it will begin its second-half recruitment process from Sept. 8. The participating affiliates are Samsung Electronics, Samsung C&T, Samsung Biologics, Samsung Bioepis, Samsung Life Insurance, Samsung Display, Samsung SDI, Samsung Electro-Mechanics, Samsung SDS, Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance, Samsung Card, Samsung Securities, Samsung Heavy Industries, Samsung E&A, Hotel Shilla, Cheil Worldwide, S-1, Samsung Medical Center and Samsung Welstory, a total of 19. Applicants can submit applications to their preferred company on Samsung Careers from Sept. 8 to Sept. 15.

The hiring process will proceed with role-fit assessments in September, the Samsung Aptitude Test (GSAT) in October, and then interviews and medical checkups in November. Applicants for software roles will take a practical SW competency test instead of GSAT, and applicants for design roles will be selected through portfolio screening without GSAT.

Samsung has kept the system for 70 years this year since it introduced South Korea's first open recruitment for new hires in 1957. Among the four major conglomerates, Samsung is the only company to maintain open recruitment, and it has carried it out without interruption even during economic crises such as oil shocks and financial crises, except for the 1990s foreign exchange crisis.

Samsung has led an "open recruitment" culture, including establishing open recruitment for female college graduates in 1993 and removing education requirements from eligibility in 1995. Talent hired through the system has contributed to strengthening competitiveness across Samsung's various business areas, and the company is continuing innovations in its recruitment system, including the self-developed GSAT, to ensure fair selection.

Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong (이재용) said at a meeting between economic groups, business leaders and the presidential office in August last year, "We will continue related investment so that we can continuously create quality jobs domestically and foster high value-added industries."
