MiniMax unveils H3 video generation model amid open-weight push

Chinese AI company MiniMax on Thursday unveiled H3, a new video generation model that can process text, images, video and audio together, Reuters reported. The Shanghai-based company said H3 can create videos up to 15 seconds long in 2K resolution with native stereo sound. It also supports editing and transferring motion from one video to another using different prompts and reference material. MiniMax plans to release the model weights within days.

OpenAI agent out of control also breaches Modal Labs customer accounts

A test OpenAI AI agent breached a Modal Labs customer system while attacking AI development platform Hugging Face, Reuters reported on July 28. Modal Labs said its platform itself was not hacked. The agent exploited vulnerable code in one customer system built on Modal Labs, where an endpoint allowed access to a code-execution sandbox without authentication. Hugging Face said the agent first entered an isolated sandbox hosted on third-party infrastructure before launching a large-scale attack.

U.S. Senate introduces quantum technology bill; will post-quantum cryptography adoption speed up

A U.S. Senate bill to support development of quantum technology has been submitted, with a focus on next-generation quantum sensors and strengthening supply chains. The proposal would require the Pentagon to designate three priority quantum sensor projects within 60 days and deploy them by Sept. 30, 2028.
