Japan warns of further GPU price hikes, raises panic-buying alert

A Japanese retail distributor warned that graphics processing unit (GPU) prices could rise further as a memory supply shortage pushes up video memory (VRAM) costs. The retailer urged consumers planning GPU upgrades to buy as soon as possible, though it did not specify which models would be affected. Price rises have already been flagged in Japan, and similar adjustments could spread abroad. In the United States, many GPUs are selling well above list price.

KT to work with Hyundai Motor on safe school shuttle solution with MTR, Kidsnote

KT will work with Hyundai Motor, specialty mobility company MTR and smart school notice platform operator Kidsnote to develop a safety solution for children’s shuttle vehicles. The four companies signed an MOU to help prevent safety accidents linked to children remaining or being left in shuttle vehicles and to drive digital transformation of shuttle operations management. The project will combine precise positioning services with AI, UWB and BLE technologies.

Nvidia to invest $3.5 billion in MediaTek, reshaping AI chip market

Nvidia has bought $3.5 billion worth of convertible bonds issued by Taiwan chipmaker MediaTek, expanding cooperation on AI semiconductors. MediaTek plans to adopt Nvidia\'s NVLink Fusion to link customised AI chips to Nvidia-based data centres. The companies said they will broaden collaboration in AI infrastructure, local AI computing and automotive. MediaTek is targeting $2.0 billion in revenue from its data-centre chip design business this year.
