MSIT to hold AI, digital challenge to tackle social problems

South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Information Society Agency will hold a 2026 challenge to address social problems such as climate disasters and issues affecting regions and youth using AI and digital technology. The contest has service development and idea discovery tracks. Participants can apply online until Sept. 30. The ministry will support the cost of using one of Naver, NHN or KT cloud services and award 10 finalists, with total prizes of 28 million won.

Poll: 63 percent of Americans say Trump family crypto profits improper, policy influence feared

A Reuters-Ipsos poll of 1,166 U.S. adults found 63 percent said the Trump family improperly profits from cryptocurrency ventures, while 32 percent said it was appropriate. The survey also showed 69 percent believed President Donald Trump’s personal business interests, including crypto, influence policy decisions. Views split sharply by party. Asset disclosures listed more than $1.4 billion in crypto-related income, and Reuters estimated at least $2.3 billion in gains since Trump took office.

Walmart hit by slowest U.S. sales growth in 6 years, $81.2 billion in market value wiped out

Walmart shares tumbled on worries about slowing growth in its core U.S. retail business, wiping out about $81.2 billion in market value in a day. The stock fell about 9 percent intraday. Revenue and adjusted earnings beat expectations, but U.S. comparable sales excluding fuel rose only 2.6 percent, below forecasts. Walmart issued third-quarter guidance below estimates, while raising its full-year outlook.
