AI factor hits hiring market as ChatGPT recommendations shape applications

As generative AI becomes a key counselling tool for job seekers, concerns are growing that companies with limited web exposure could be excluded from recruitment. Some firms found their names did not appear when large language models were asked to recommend companies in their industry, and one company reported internship applications at about half the usual level. The trend is fuelling interest in LLM optimisation to increase citations and recommendations by tools such as ChatGPT.
