Medical, bio AI models prove global competitiveness, move to phase two development
Two AI-focused foundation models being developed in South Korea for medical and bio applications will move into phase two after an interim performance review, the Ministry of Science and ICT said on Monday. A Lunit consortium and a KAIST consortium each scored above 80 points, meeting the 70-point threshold for further support. The ministry plans to keep providing each consortium with 256 Nvidia B200 GPUs through early September. The models are set to be released as open source in early April.

Jeong Woo-jin of NHN set for fourth term after record annual operating profit
NHN will submit an agenda item at its March 26 annual general meeting to reappoint CEO Jeong Woo-jin as an inside director. Jeong has led NHN for 12 years since taking office in 2014. The company posted its highest annual operating results since a split, with revenue rising 2.5 percent to 2.5163 trillion won and operating profit returning to 132.4 billion won. NHN is also preparing six new game launches.

Dokpamo second round begins with four-way race, key watch points emerge
South Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT said the Dokpamo project to develop a domestic AI foundation model will enter a second-stage round as a four-way race after adding the Motif Technologies consortium. The ministry will run different development schedules by team and hold the second-stage evaluation around early August. A key issue is the standard for judging originality, defined as end-to-end in-house model design and pre-training.
