A SaaSpocalypse scenario suggesting AI could weaken or even erase the presence of existing software is still circulating in the tech sector, but security appears to be relatively outside the debate.

Many security companies are reporting results that exceed expectations as AI spreads.

Okta, an identity (ID) security platform company, reported fiscal second-quarter results above expectations and its shares rose 15 percent in after-hours trading. Okta also raised its annual outlook. CrowdStrike also posted fiscal 2027 second-quarter results above market expectations and raised its annual forecast, sending its shares up more than 11 percent in after-hours trading.

A Ministry of Science and ICT project to develop a "cyber security-specialised AI foundation model" is proceeding as a two-way race. The ministry plans to select 1 final consortium in early September after reviewing document compliance and conducting presentations evaluated by outside experts. The selected consortium will receive support for 256 Nvidia B200 graphics processing units (GPUs) for 10 months.

It plans to strengthen efforts to target the public and financial sectors based on a security function confirmation certificate and Public Procurement Service registration for its SSL visibility solution, BlueKeen VA. LG Uplus will run a global bug bounty programme with HackerOne, the world's largest bug bounty platform. SK Shields published a KARA (Korea Anti Ransomware Alliance) ransomware trend report analysing global ransomware attack trends and major cases in the first half of 2026, and said it found that key intrusion paths in recent ransomware attacks have focused on exploiting corporate security vulnerabilities or stolen accounts rather than the malware itself.
