NTT to triple Japan data centre capacity by 2033, targeting urban sites and subsea cable links

Japan\'s NTT will expand domestic data centre capacity to more than three times its current size by 2033 to meet surging AI demand. It plans to raise power capacity from 300 megawatts in fiscal 2024 to about 1 gigawatt in fiscal 2033. The strategy includes distributing new sites nationwide, linking them with high-speed networks, investing in liquid-immersion cooling and building facilities connected directly to subsea cables.
