Naver Webtoon said on Tuesday it will introduce a flat-rate anime streaming service, d Anime Store for Line Manga, to its Japanese-language service Line Manga in collaboration with Japanese mobile carrier NTT Docomo.

d Anime Store for Line Manga is Line Manga's first flat-rate anime viewing service. Users will be able to enjoy original comics and watch anime through a new Anime tab within the Line Manga app.

Its partner NTT Docomo's d Anime Store is an anime-focused subscription streaming service with about 4 million members. Through the tie-up, Line Manga will seek synergy by combining d Anime Store's video content infrastructure with Line Manga's user base.

Through the new tab, Line Manga will initially provide more than 4,000 anime titles, from the latest popular works to classics, and plans to keep expanding the number of titles offered.

The service launch is part of Naver Webtoon's strategy to expand intellectual property experiences in line with content consumption patterns by region.

In Japan, Naver Webtoon will strengthen links between comics and anime through d Anime Store for Line Manga. In South Korea it operates Cuts, and in its global service it operates a WATCH tab, offering tailored video content experiences such as short animations.
