Team Naver will apply the smart building operating technology solution from its '1784' headquarters to Tokyo Midtown Yaesu, a mixed-use building in a key commercial district of Tokyo, together with NTT East and Mitsui Fudosan, it said on Wednesday.

Connected to Tokyo Station, Tokyo Midtown Yaesu is a large mixed-use complex with 45 floors. It houses retail facilities, offices, a hotel, a bus terminal and an elementary school.

The deal marks the first commercial export case in which Team Naver has transplanted the smart building model it built and operated at its 1784 headquarters to an external site. Team Naver will provide an integrated set of core technology infrastructure, including autonomous driving robots, a cloud robot control system and a digital twin. Based on this, Mitsui Fudosan will manage the provision of robot delivery services and overall facility linkages, while NTT East will be responsible for building the digital twin environment and operating robot maintenance.

The biggest significance of this commercialization is that it optimized the technology so that smooth robot services can be provided even in general buildings that do not have special facilities such as robot-only elevators or a proprietary cloud environment.

The three companies will first start a cloud-based autonomous driving robot delivery service at Tokyo Midtown Yaesu, where offices and retail facilities coexist. It will make extensive use of robot sensor data, spatial data and service execution data that Team Naver has accumulated over four years at its 1784 headquarters. It advanced robots' mobility and service execution capabilities by applying operational know-how from real physical environments, including optimal routes by time zone and recurring exceptional situations.

Team Naver's tech convergence technology has been concentrated at the site. Key examples include the indoor autonomous driving robot 'Rookie', the multi-robot control system 'Arcbrain', a digital twin and the vision-based positioning technology 'ArcEye'.

Arcbrain, the core orchestration platform, is a system that integrates and controls the routes and roles of multiple robots. Through cloud processing, it helps robots operate seamlessly by linking not only robots but also existing building facilities such as speed gates and elevators, enabling robots to interact with users in everyday spaces.

Led by Naver Cloud's Japan business development department and 추진된 using Naver Labs' robotics and vision technologies, the project will serve as a starting point for the three companies to expand the scope of cooperation into various physical artificial intelligence fields, including indoor augmented reality navigation and digital twin-based building management.

Team Naver plans to advance its core technologies so it can provide smooth robot services in various buildings regardless of facility environments. It also plans to apply the 1784 model at multiple sites at home and abroad.

NTT East held a press briefing at Tokyo Midtown Yaesu on July 21 local time to unveil the project. The event introduced Team Naver's core physical AI technologies, including robotics and digital twins, and featured demonstrations of robot delivery and indoor augmented reality navigation services.
