Mesh partners with Visa to enable crypto payments without a card

Crypto payments infrastructure firm Mesh is partnering with Visa to launch a service that lets users buy goods using cryptocurrencies without a separate card, The Block reported on Oct. 19. Users can spend cryptocurrency and stablecoin balances held in partner wallet apps at more than 175 million Visa-accepting locations worldwide, both in-store and online. The app generates the required card details, while Mesh handles funding and foreign exchange.

Bio-friendly ice composite developed by Israeli researchers is as strong as concrete

Israeli researchers have developed a new ice composite that is about 10 times stronger in compression than ordinary ice and resists sudden breakage. The material, called BioPykrete, combines a cellulose nanocrystal network formed during directional freezing with a fusion protein that bonds ice and the network at a molecular level. Tests on small cylindrical samples showed higher strength and far greater energy absorption, suggesting potential use as polar construction material, though durability testing is still needed.

Creallo unveils free 3D viewer Creallo Atlas for PC installation

Custom parts manufacturing service Creallo said on Oct. 13 it has launched Creallo Atlas, a free desktop 3D viewer. The company said the software can open 13 types of 3D design files, including STL, STEP and IGES, without a CAD program and supports measuring dimensions, checking cross-sections, inspecting shapes and diagnosing errors. It said the viewer runs on users’ PCs and can be installed on Windows, macOS and Linux.
