Korea ETF market nears 466 trillion won as asset managers compete more fiercely, internal controls in focus
South Korea’s listed exchange-traded fund market is expanding rapidly, intensifying market-share competition among asset managers. Total net assets stood at 465.98 trillion won as of May 12, with 1,108 ETFs listed. Samsung Asset Management led with 39.64 percent, followed by Mirae Asset with 31.69 percent. Mid-tier firms are focusing on active and theme-based ETFs. Regulators are also reviewing some ETF advertisements for potential internal-control lapses.

Koscom partners with Woori Investment Securities on tokenised securities platform
Koscom said on May 13 it has signed a partnership with Woori Investment Securities on digital assets and tokenised securities (STO). The two companies plan to build a cooperation framework to advance the tokenised securities business based on blockchain technology and financial investment capabilities. Koscom said it has expanded its STO-related base through projects including an issuance platform with LG CNS, a Korea Securities Depository testbed, stablecoin-based atomic settlement proof-of-concept work and participation in the Korea Exchange-backed KDX consortium.

Koscom designated as one-stop support center for pseudonymised data
Koscom has been designated by South Korea\'s Personal Information Protection Commission as the operator of a one-stop support center for pseudonymised data, it said on Tuesday. The company will carry out pseudonymisation through specialised data staff and verify results through an independent review system to reduce public institutions\' legal and operational burdens. It plans to link with related support schemes as new regulations are set to take effect in September.
